Cozy Mountain Stays for a dreamy winter holiday in Greece

Winters in Greece are mild, but the mountains usually see a lot of snow. Mountain retreats, cozy chalets and wooden guesthouses are “huge” among Greek families, so the hotel owners have made sure to have enough to keep their littlest guests well entertained. While the parents enjoy some warm spirits, wholesome meze and great views!

Here are a few of our favorites:

Modern residences in an arcadian village

Gileri eco & design residences were built in a restored traditional house from the early 1900s. There are 3 of them, all with great views, cozy minimal decor, fully equipped but serving breakfast as well and, last but not least, with toys, kids books and everything for your baby and toddler! When the weather permits, the villages of Arcadia and Mainalon mountain are waiting for you to explore their cobblestone alleys and wooden taverns. On a rainy day, we recommend you enjoy a hot cup of mountain tea in the sitting area, while your kids play by the fireplace/stove. Magic!

Family homes in a Theme Park by the river

Ninemia Stay & Play is probably the most family friendly mountain guesthouse in Greece. It’s right next to The Newton Park, a theme park with Physics games and a farm, but it also features playground, playroom, treehouse, bicycles and trikes, ponies to ride and a train to see around the estate! If you decide to leave, know that the food is great around here and there’s abundance of eerie trails to explore.

Cozy mountain resort in idyllic Taygetos mountain

Ilaeira Mountain Resort offers panoramic views to the mountain and the laconic fields and a comfortable accommodation in fully equipped family houses, with cozy living areas and fireplaces. The breakfast is great, but the restaurant is even better! There’s a playground, board games, kids books, bicycles for everyone and they can even arrange a picnic for you!

Handmade village with farm, spa and kids activities

Montanema Handmaded Village is perched in a lush gorge over the river. The first cottage found here was restored to look its old glory and even features an all natural infinity pool. The “village” that was created near it features a swimming pool, adults only spa with inside pool using herbs from Agrafa mountain, farm to table meals all day long, playroom, ponies, farm animals and fields with fruits and vegetables.
